This Genius Mom Gave Her Teething Baby a ‘Milksicle’

She gave him a popsicle made out of breast milk, and that's kind of the best idea ever.

I don't have kids, but even I know that dealing with a teething baby can be a serious challenge. Kids can struggle to fall asleep, be irritable, refuse to eat, or try to chew on literally everything in sight, according to the American Dental Association. (To be fair, a few babies experience teething without any noticeable discomfort, but most display at least one of the symptoms I listed.)

So what can you do? You can rub a teething baby's gums with a clean finger, a small cool spoon, or a moist gauze pad, according to the ADA. You can also buy your child a clean teething ring to chew on. Or you can do what one Ohio mother did and feed your baby a "milksicle"—a popsicle made of breast milk. (I know—why isn't this a thing yet?)

Tasia Blackwell, of Columbus, Ohio, had the genius idea to soothe her son's teething discomfort by turning her breast milk into a popsicle he could suck on. That way, he could feel better and "fill up his tummy" with all kinds of nutrients at the same time.

Blackwell posted an adorable video of her son enjoying his "milksicle" on Snapchat and then on Facebook, where it received more than 21 million views. Nearly 8,000 people reacted to the post, about 6,500 shared it, and one person commented. "This is a great idea!!!" she wrote. And seriously, it is. This creative approach to treating teething pains is kind of incredible, and we'll sure we'll see more and more moms embracing the "milksicle" soon.
