Joanne Tronconi was born with a rare birthmark that covers nearly half of her body. And then about 20 years ago, she developed Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, which causes the birthmark to swell significantly. Tronconi wanted to bring awareness to her condition, so she used a makeup tutorial on YouTube to share her story.

"My deformity that I have now, I didn't have for the first 40 years of my life," Tronconi explains in the video's introduction "Now, wherever I have the birthmark has swollen—my arms, my lips, my face, my chest, my back. You name it." And, unfortunately, she has had to deal with negativity from others. "Many people stare. They come up with their own conclusions. It's really a matter of perspective," Tonconi says. "I'm here today to show you that I use makeup to make myself beautiful."

Tronconi looks beautiful with or without the makeup, but she demonstrated how sometimes a few products can give anyone a confidence boost. Tronconi applied Dermablend Leg and Body Cover foundation ($31; sephora.com) to her face. This is a full-coverage formula that is known for masking everything, from acne scars to tattoos. Tronconi has been a fan of the powerful foundation for about 30 years.

Tronconi's son is also into makeup. He is known for his undeniable skills on YouTube, where he goes by the name Clawdeena9. And although both Tronconi and her son love makeup, the message in this tutorial was much bigger than finding the perfect coverup. Towards the end Tronconi captioned the video, "Let's make people aware! Share this video. Just because you look different doesn't make you a bad person."

It's so refreshing to watch Tronconi and her son celebrate individuality. Together they are reminding us that everyone is beautiful. Press play to watch the entire clip below.
