Hilary Duff Loves Trader Joe's Snacks as Much as the Rest of Us

Hilary Duff just gave us one more reason to stock up in the Trader Joe's snack aisle.

Duff shared a few of her favorite healthy snacks in an interview with Refinery29, and it turns out that some of our go-to grocery items made the cut. Duff reportedly likes to "stay stocked up with snacks from Trader Joe's." Celebrities really are just like us! According to the site, she's "obsessed" with the egg white salad. A creamy, yummy snack with 13 grams of protein, we highly suggest keeping a tub or two of this salad in the fridge.

Her next must-haves are both classic TJ's: Duff reaches for their Tempting Trail Mix and dried mango with chili powder. The individually packaged trail mix has 3 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein, but its biggest benefit is how easy it is to toss one of the tiny bags in your purse, gym bag, desk, under your pillow, behind the couch, basically anywhere you might want to snack. Even if your grocery budget looks a little differently than Duff's, the spicy-meets-sweet chili spiced mango is still a must-have at less than $2.

Duff also said she "fuels up with RX bars" when she's on set for long days. (The SELF team feels the same way: RX bars won the SELF Healthy Food Award for Best Protein Bar.) Duff's favorite RX is the peanut butter version, which is made with only five ingredients: egg whites, dates, peanuts, sea salt, and natural peanut flavor. With 12 grams of protein per bar, it's the perfect quick pick-me-up for long afternoons at work (or, you know, on set).

Judging by the number of paparazzi photos shot in grocery store parking lots, Hilary Duff isn't the only celeb who takes pride in her grocery list. Adam Scott is also a fan of TJ's dried mango: "It’s like little dried pieces of cocaine," he once said. When Shailene Woodley isn't foraging for her own food, she turns to Trader Joe's for "cookies and candies without hydrogenated oils and without artificial flavors/colorings." Not all of Hollywood loves the brand, though: Chrissy Teigen once called Trader Joe's "weird and creepy."

Try a few of our healthy snack picks for an A-List shopping cart:

1. Organic Toaster Pastries

Trader Joe's has the uncanny ability to take a junk food and turn it into an [at least semi-] nutritious snack. Their organic version of pop-tarts are made without artificial flavors or preservatives and, yes, they do have an organic pumpkin version for fall.

2. Organic String Cheese

As Amy Gorin, M.S., R.D.N. previously told SELF, this grab-and-go string cheese is a nutritious and hearty snack thanks to its 8 grams of protein. “That’s 16 percent of the daily value in one snack,” said Gorin.

3. Freeze-Dried Raspberries

Even if you don't have time to blend them into a smoothie, freeze-dried fruit can be a refreshing, filling snack. Since freeze-drying retains all the raspberries' nutrients, you'll still get their full fiber benefits. Bonus: These will last much longer than fresh raspberries.

4. Kefir

Add kefir to your grocery list ASAP. This drinkable yogurt has the probiotic benefits of Greek yogurt, making it easy to digest and beneficial for your gut health in the long run. Choose from vanilla and mango flavors and enjoy with one hand while getting ready for your day with the other.

5. Perfect Bar Peanut Butter Mini

In honor of Duff's PB habit, we had to include this pocket-size snack from Whole Foods. It contains 5 grams each of protein and sugar, make it a nutritious and simple post-gym snack.
